Stayers' Hurdle 2023 odds, runners and time for Cheltenham Festival race – Gloucestershire Live

St Patrick’s Thursday at the Cheltenham Festival sees two big races, with the Stayers’ Hurdle the feature of day three.
The Stayers' Hurdle is one of the highlights of the Cheltenham Festival, with the feature race of St Patrick's Thursday being the leading long-distance hurdle race of the National Hunt season.
The race is run over 3 miles (2 miles 7 furlongs and 213 yards, or 4,785 metres) around the New Course, horses must negotiate 12 hurdles throughout its course in what is a tough test. Syndicate owned Irish favourite Flooring Porter won last year's race and is in the mix once again this time around.
He will face competition from names such as Teauhpoo, Maries Rock, Sir Gerhard, Paisley Park and current favourite Blazing Khal in what is always one of the highlights of race week. Blazing Khal's participation in the race depends on a key piece of work on Friday, according to trainer Charles Byrnes.

The Stayers' Hurdle favourite returned from a 14-month layoff to win the Boyne Hurdle and Navan last month and speaking on Monday, Byrnes revealed: "Unfortunately he got a bad cut in his Boyne Hurdle win and he was on antibiotics after. We couldn’t do much with him since and we're after stepping his work up now in the last week.
"We gave him a small bit of work at the Curragh this morning. It’s gone late in the day now so we'll see how he works on Friday and make a final decision."
