Snow at Cheltenham Festival now evens with William Hill as cold snap set to strike UK… – talkSPORT

The United Kingdom will be bracing for another cold snap in March, with Cheltenham Festival likely to take the brunt of the extreme weather.

Horse racing has already had to weather cold snaps this winter, with multiple abandonments seen across November and December, as temperatures plummeted below freezing.
Despite staff's best efforts many racecourses had to call off meetings even days in advance due to weather forecasts and if similar temperatures are expected it could throw a spanner in the works to racing's big showpiece.
With snow added into the mix it's unclear how horse racing will be able to keep the show on the road.
If temperatures keep above 0 degrees the Festival does stand a chance at not being overly interrupted.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “It’s looking more and more likely that we’ll have a rerun of 2018’s conditions in the snow with this forecast!
“The Cheltenham Festival is just around the corner and with wintery conditions seemingly on the way, we make it just even-money that snow falls during any of the four days of the biggest meeting of the racing calendar.”
It's not the first time snow has caused Cheltenham racecourse to take precautions though.
In 2013, the protective sheets were out to protect the ground from the harsh weather and cold.
The sheets will be out in force again this year with plenty of equipment set to handle challenging conditions.
And there will be a lot of effort put into keeping the stage set for the four-day meeting.
There's lots of horse racing action ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
But also plenty of antepost betting options ahead of the four-day treat.
Mighty Potter in the Turners, Galopin Des Champs in the Gold and Shishkin in the Ryanair are all still great priced favourites that could be used to claim this offer.
Each-way chances can come from Hewick, also in the Gold Cup, and Tahmuras at the opener of the festival the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
