Noisy Dundalk traffic lights keeping Dowdallshill residents awake at night

A call for the audible push-button at the traffic lights beside Dowdallshill graveyard to be replaced was made by Cllr Conor Keelan as he told Dundalk Municipal District’s monthly meeting that local residents had complained that it was keeping them awake at night.

e said that there is “quite a loud noise” emanating from the button which is keeping some local people awake. He was told that it had been installed for blind people but it was affecting the lives of some local residents.

Senior Executive Engineer Mr Paddy Connolly said that he would see what could be done. He informed the meeting that Louth County Council had recently had a meeting with DisAbility Louth who want more audible signals installed.

Cllr Keelan asked if it could be looked at given that it’s a residential area so that it wouldn’t be buzzing on a 24 hour basis.
