Mickey Mouse and his friends are headed to Disney Plus in a new animated shorts series that will debut on the streaming service on Nov. 18 — the birthday of the famous cartoon mouse.
In “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse,” Mickey and his pals (Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto) embark on adventures in seven-minute short films featuring comedy, modern settings, timeless stories, new music and the classic art style of the “Mickey Mouse” shorts. The series includes classic character cameos and stories inspired by lands at Disney parks.
The “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts premiered on Disney Channel in 2013 and ran for five seasons with a total of 96 episodes. The shorts garnered several Primetime Emmy Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards and Annie Awards as well as inspired an attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the first ride-through attraction in Disney history to pay homage to Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
“The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” — produced by Disney Television Animation with Emmy Award-winning artist and director Paul Rudish as executive producer and supervising director and Emmy Award-nominated composer of the “Mickey Mouse” shorts Christopher Willis providing the series’ music — will feature two new shorts each Friday starting Nov. 27. Ten shorts will premiere this year, with an additional 10 shorts set for summer 2021.
For those who can’t wait and want something to watch in the meantime, all five seasons of the “Mickey Mouse” shorts are currently available on Disney Plus.
