TWO men have died within hours of each other in separate road crashes.
he first fatal incident occurred outside Kenmare yesterday evening at around 6pm.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Kerry attended the scene of a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 6pm on Wednesday evening.
“The collision occurred on the N71, Kenmare to Bantry Road at Drominassig, Co.Kerry.
“The driver of the car, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries. A post-mortem will now take place in due course.”
A technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision investigators is set to take place this morning. The road is currently closed, with local diversions currently in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.

The man who died in the crash is understood to be from the local area.
Meanwhile, a man was killed after the van he was driving crashed near Claremorris, Co Mayo.
Gardaí were called to the scene of the accident shortly after midnight on the N60 at Ballygowan in Claremorris, Co.Mayo.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The collision, involving a van, occurred at approximately 12.25am. The driver of the van, a man aged in his 40s, later passed away from his injuries.
“His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
“A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision investigators and the road has re-opened this morning.”
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
In particular, any road users who were in the area between the Claremorris Road and Ballygowan Bridge from 12am – 12.30am.

It comes as a man who was injured in an accident on January 31 in Waterford.
The pedestrian, in his 50, was struck by a car on the R680 at Butlerstown at around 7pm.
The collision, involving a male pedestrian and a car, occurred at approximately 7pm.
He was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment but has since passed away as a result of his injuries.
A spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make this available to them. In particular, any road users who were in the area between 6:45pm – 7:15pm.
