Darwin Rebels run charity ride for BeyondBlue, days after club president bashed

Hundreds of loud-revving members of the Rebels Motorcycle Club have taken part in a charity ride to raise money for a depression awareness group, days after the club's Darwin president was assaulted by rivals.
The Darwin chapter of the club staged what it called poker ride, where members visit several pubs before returning to their clubhouse.
President Jax Smith said the money raised would go to depression awareness charity BeyondBlue.
"Depression is one of those things that affects countless people, it doesn't matter what you do or who you are," he said.
"BeyondBlue's a great organisation that helps those people out."
Mr Smith estimated about 150 riders were supporting the event, with members of other clubs in Darwin showing their support.
There was also a visible police presence, with officers wearing high-visibility vests keeping an eye on the registration proceedings and taking photographs of those involved.
Mr Smith was assaulted outside the Rebels' clubhouse in Yarrawonga on Thursday night, in an attack police believed was orchestrated by the Comancheros Motorcycle Club.
The attack prompted NT Police to warn of a feud between the two bikie gangs, saying they feared the public could be put at risk.
